Job Description

JC Engineering is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead the development and implementation of a custom digital workflow system to improve internal operations and job tracking. As a small engineering company, the role requires strong communication skills and the ability to engage with both office and workshop staff to analyse current processes in detail. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with the ability to understand real-world workflows, ensuring the system is practical, user-friendly, and aligned with the needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop a tailored digital system to manage quotations, job tracking, materials, and timesheets.
  • Work closely with office and workshop staff to capture and analyse existing workflows, ensuring these are accurately translated into a user-friendly digital system.
  • Test, deploy, and maintain the system, ensuring it integrates with current operations and meets business needs.
  • Provide training and support to staff, ensuring smooth adoption and minimal disruption to daily work.
  • This is an in-office role based at JC Engineering in Cloghan, Co Donegal.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with North West Regional College as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2:2 Degree (Level 7 NFQ) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience of business process automation (including Excel/VBA automation), workflow management systems, database design, and maintaining accurate project documentation.
  • Proven experience in developing or implementing digital business management systems to support manufacturing or operational workflows.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to engage with office and workshop teams in a small-company environment, analyse processes, and translate them into effective digital solutions.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland/EU and travel thorough the island of Ireland if required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Ireland/EU you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit may result in your application not being considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience developing or implementing custom workflow or job tracking systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with digital tools for stock control, quoting, and timesheet logging.
  • At least 1 year’s experience with digital business management systems (e.g. ERP or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to engage with office and workshop teams to document processes, gather requirements, and provide user training in a small-company setting.
  • Knowledge of compliance documentation processes, including CE marking, in engineering contexts.
